SiGlaz Disk Defect Analyzer Software Receives Customer Acceptance

DDA Enterprise provides significant improvements in the ability to access media defect signatures and yield charts. SANTA CLARA, CA, March 22, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- SiGlaz, a world leader in defect spatial signature analysis (SSA) software, today announced that its initial installation of Disk Defect Analyzer (DDA), Enterprise Edition has been accepted by a major hard disk drive (HDD) manufacturer located in Asia. DDA software automatically analyzes the spatial distribution of disk media tester data, using its patented algorithms, and writes the analysis results to a results database. DDA Enterprise Edition, which operates on a Microsoft Windows-based server with .NET framework and web service architecture, is compatible with all leading database software, including Microsoft SQL Server. It provides a fab-wide repository for signature analysis results and the ability to access those results in real time and from remote locations. The DDA platform also provides the capability to link signature results with manufacturing resource data in order to present real-time yield charts. According to John Poreda, SiGlaz Vice President of Sales & Marketing, "The Enterprise Edition of DDA provides a major benefit to the HDD fab, in terms of automatically analyzing the large volumes of production tester data. Defect engineers can quickly access the results of the DDA analysis from any fab location and display yield charts and signature defect maps from recent production data." SiGlaz DDA provides a number of proven signature recognition methodologies that have been optimized for the types of signatures most common in disk media manufacturing. DDA signature recognition algorithms include an object analyzer that may be used in either Cartesian or polar coordinate mode. In addition, DDA includes a sinusoid analyzer, a zonal signature analyzer and a pattern recognition algorithm. Victor Luu, SiGlaz President and CEO said, "We are very excited to offer our SSA to the hard disk drive industry. It is our experience that the early identification of process excursions and equipment failures translate into yield improvement and cost reduction. In addition, the high throughput and high accuracy of the software make it suitable for real-time disk grading."
