Licensing free software for sale threatens anti-piracy efforts, alleges local UK official.

The London Times Online this morning is carrying an op-ed piece written by Gervase Markham, a member of the Mozilla Foundation, who writes about a complaint received from a local member of the Trading Standards office in the UK. The complaint alleges that Mozilla"s efforts to enable others to sell copies of Firefox and keep the profits, hampers the interests of anti-piracy. "I can"t believe that your company would allow people to make money from something that you allow people to have free access to. Is this really the case?" she asked. (London Times Online)

Microsoft is being targeted by a startup company going by the name ˜G.ho.st in an apparent claim that Microsoft is violating a company trademark. The violation in question has to do with use of phrases such as no walls in its US$300 million Windows marketing and advertising campaign.

Nvidia increases wafer production for entry-level AGP8X chips.
Nvidia recently placed additional orders for wafer starts at 0.14-micron for its AGP8x-based NV34 (FX5200) graphics chips at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), as demand in the entry-level segment remains strong, according to sources. The orders will provide about two million graphics chips per month, the sources indicated.
