LG.Philips LCD lowers shipment forecast, predicts sharper price decrease.

LG.Philips LCD expects its large-size panel area shipments to increase by a mid-teen percentage sequentially in the second quarter of 2006, a decline from the previous guidance of a mid-to-high twenties percentage increase. LCD TV shipment growth at the end of the second quarter is expected to be approximately 25% sequentially, approximately 50% less than previously announced expectations, the company said.

Agere Systems introduces 1394B chipset that doubles speed of data transport.
Agere Systems on May 30 introduced its FW430 and FW843 chipsets, which the company claims can double the speed at which information can be moved between personal computers (PCs) and various devices such as high-performance hard disk drives. The FW430 and FW843 transports voice, data and video signals moving between computer and consumer electronics equipment at up to 800 Megabits per second (Mbits/s) - twice as fast as current 1394A 400 Mbits/s technology, according to the company.

Ontario (CA) - Graphics card vendor XFX today announced its first two overclocked add-in cards. Called the "XXX" edition, the company offers a 8800 GTX card that comes with a 630 MHz GPU and 2.0 GHz memory. The reference design provided by Nvidia runs on a 575 MHz GPU and 1.8 MHz memory clock. There is also a 8800 GTS XXX model with a 550 MHz core and 1.8 GHz memory (standard: 500 MHz/1.6 GHz).
