Intel looking for market to migrate to 600-series CPUs by 3Q, mobo makers disagree.

Intel is hoping the market will migrate from 500-series Pentium 4 CPUs to 64-bit 600-series by the third quarter of this year, with the chip giant promoting the fact that 915- and 945-series chipsets will support the 64-bit CPU platform, according to market sources.

AMD Sees Improved RV670 Yields; To Launch Radeon HD 3850 X2 In May.

AMD is expected to grow its penetration in the mainstream graphics card market after seeing a meaningful cost down thanks to improved yields for its RV670 series chips, according to industry sources. RV670 chips, fabbed under Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company"s (TSMC"s) 55nm process, have seen a noticeable increase in yields recently, the sources noted, which will enable AMD to be more price competitive, they believe.
