G'day mate: Microsoft Office 2007 to understand Australian.

Australian words like g"day, Sheila and bogan will be added to the Microsoft Office 2007 dictionary. More than 24,000 Australians voted for the top 20 words with g"day, short for good day, leading the pack. Office currently misrecognizes the words, thinking that they are misspellings and tries to correct them. The other four words in the top five are sickie, ute, trackies and bogan. I admit that I had to turn to this site to gather the meanings. A sickie is slang for a sick day, while an ute is a sport-utility vehicle. Trackies are track suits (running outfits) and a bogan is someone who doesn"t take pride in their appearance.

Mitac aims to ship 4-5 million GPS devices in 2006.
Mitac International expects its shipments of GPS-enabled devices, including PDA phones, to top 4-5 million units in 2006, up from the 2.8 million units it shipped in 2005, company president Billy Ho said yesterday. Of the total GPS shipments last year, about one million units, or 36%, were Mitac"s own Mio-branded models with the remaining being OEM products, Ho noted.

Samsung today said that its 1 GB MMCmicro Flash memory card is about 3.5 times faster in data transfers than any other micro memory technology. Targeted for a use at cellphones, digital cameras and MP3 players, the device can write data at a pace of 7.12 MBps. According to Samsung, that is fast enough tos tore 20 5-megapixel images in about 11 seconds.
