Evana Rachel Gerstman wants to continue helping Microsoft become more user-friendly
SAMMAMISH, WA, September 30, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Evana Rachel Gerstman, Senior User Experience Designer at Microsoft Corporation, has been recognized by Cambridge Who"s Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in software development.
As a senior user experience designer at Microsoft Corporation, Ms. Gerstman is responsible for implementing user-centered design methodologies focusing on human computer interaction, user requirements, heuristic evaluation, user interviews and task analysis, and working on the Windows Presentation Foundation using Microsoft Expression Blend and Microsoft Silverlight. She began her career in user interface design in Boston with Digital Equipment Corporation in 1986 and later relocated to San Francisco. Eventually, she integrated herself into the rock and roll industry, designing for Bay Area musicians and for Jon Goodchild, the first art director for Rolling Stone magazine. She also worked on various projects for Adobe, Broderbund, Autodesk and Lucasfilm as well as Web sites with mPower and 3steps.com. Ms. Gerstman was on the expression design team that shipped the version one product and her team was one of the first groups in Microsoft to separate user interface design from development using new tools such as Microsoft Expression Blend.
Ms. Gerstman received her bachelor of science and arts in graphic design and marketing from Pennsylvania State University in 1986. She is a member of the Sammamish Arts Council and works as a vocal teacher at the Rock School in Kirkland. She hopes to continue working for Microsoft to make it more user friendly and expand the market. She would also like to teach graphic design and incorporate the lost pieces of the craft into her curriculum.
