Alienware announces desktop PC with Intel's latest quad-core processor.

Miami (FL) - Alienware said it "will" launch Intel"s second quad-core desktop processor, the 2.4 GHz Core 2 Quad Q6600, on its Area-51 7500 desktop system. At the time of this writing, the company has not made this option available on its website; a spokesperson was not available for comment or further information when this new processor may become available. The Area-51 7500 computer currently starts at around $2400 with a Core 2 Duo E6400 processor. An upgrade to the 2.66 GHz QX6700 quad-core is priced at an extra $1250, resulting in a list price of $3650. A Q6600 upgrade should be slightly cheaper: Compared to the $999 tray price of the QX6700, Intel sells the Q6600 for $851.
