AMD Sees Improved RV670 Yields; To Launch Radeon HD 3850 X2 In May.

AMD is expected to grow its penetration in the mainstream graphics card market after seeing a meaningful cost down thanks to improved yields for its RV670 series chips, according to industry sources. RV670 chips, fabbed under Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company"s (TSMC"s) 55nm process, have seen a noticeable increase in yields recently, the sources noted, which will enable AMD to be more price competitive, they believe.
